A Mediterranean Wedding in Mallorca | Son Collell
There is something about Mallorca that feels instantly familiar: the stone, the colours, the Mediterranean vegetation, the old houses surrounded by gardens. And then there are days like this one, when all those things come together.
This was our first wedding in Mallorca, at Finca Son Collell, in the heart of the island. A civil wedding surrounded by around 160 guests, with the kind of setting that makes you want to photograph every corner.
A wedding in the heart of Mallorca
Located in central Mallorca, Finca Son Collell is surrounded by gardens, old stone walls and views stretching towards Montuïri and the Serra de Tramuntana.
The finca itself was one of the things we loved most about this wedding. Bougainvillea climbing over the walls, cypresses, cacti, monsteras growing through the windows, the old stone and the gardens surrounding the house.
Everything felt very Mallorcan without needing much decoration.
A civil ceremony at Finca Son Collell
The ceremony took place at the finca and was officiated by the mayor of the municipality.
The weather had other plans for us that day. There had been a yellow weather warning for rain, and a few minutes before the ceremony a light drizzle started to fall.
Luckily, it didn't last long.
The sky stayed cloudy for most of the day, creating soft light that we absolutely loved for photography. Later, there was another little bit of rain during the meal, but by then everyone was already enjoying the day.
Sometimes you simply have to let the weather be part of the story.
A bride surrounded by stone, flowers and Mediterranean light
The bride wore a clean, timeless dress with a delicate sheer cape for the ceremony, which moved beautifully whenever the wind picked up.
Her look was simple and elegant, perfectly at home among the stone walls and gardens of the finca.
For the party, she took off the cape and added a M de Paulet choker, changing the look completely while keeping the same effortless feeling.
These little changes are exactly the kind of details we love documenting throughout a wedding day.
Colour, flowers and all the little details
One of our favourite things about this wedding was the colour.
The flowers, the table details, the gardens and, especially, the guests. There was so much colour in what everyone wore: prints, greens, reds, floral dresses and all kinds of textures.
The floral decoration was also very personal, with the groom's father involved in the process.
There were little flowers in glass vases, carefully arranged details and a table full of small elements that felt personal rather than overly designed.
A Mediterranean wedding in Mallorca
Maybe that is what we loved most about this wedding.
It didn't need to look like a stereotypical Mediterranean wedding. Mallorca was already there.
In the stone of the finca, in the vegetation, in the colours, in the cloudy sky, in the food and in the people.
And then, instead of a traditional wedding cake, there was a giant ensaimada.
We couldn't have asked for a more Mallorcan ending.
Our first wedding in Mallorca
We photograph weddings looking for the things that make each day different: the atmosphere, the people, the light, the little moments that happen between everything that has been planned.
This wedding in Mallorca had plenty of those moments.
It was our first wedding in Mallorca, and it left us wanting to come back.
